It can happen gradually over a long period of time. You may not know  that your monitor is dusty until one day the light hits it a certain way, or you find yourself leaning forward and squinting to read your screen.   You realize how grimy the screen has become.Start researching monitor covers.

Don't Treat Me Badly 
Don't do what some do.Grabbing a bottle of ammonia-based glass cleaner and a paper towel might seem like the thing to do, but the harsh chemicals can do a number on anti-glare treatments covering your screen, and paper towels  will scratch these special coatings. Sprayed liquids may corrode and do irreversible damage to the internal electronic components of your computer monitor. Computer monitor covers should be used to prevent the dust and grime from building up in the first place.

Let's Get it Right 

• Use only cleaning agents recommended by your computer's manual. Certain anti-glare glass coatings can be easily damaged, and LCD (or flat panel) monitors are especially delicate and susceptible to damage.
• For the old-style glass screens a soft cotton cloth may be used along with a spray cleaner applied onto the cloth at a distance . Like your computer, the monitor is air-cooled and you must be aware of damages that can occur when corrosive liquids sneak in through the air vents. Keep the spray away from the air intake vents on your computer and monitor.
• Use only an ultra-soft cloth (like a Klear Screen(TM) chamois)or microfiber cloth on LCD monitors. And never touch a flat screen with your finger or any sharp object. You don't need a knife to clean off that peanut butter!
• Dry the screen after wiping with the cleaning fluid. Wipe lightly in a circular motion with the soft cloth.

Put a Cover On It if you like it
After shutting down your computer and monitor, cover them up!Vinyl covers are inexpensive and prevent dust from settling on the equipment. They also prevent it dust from settling on or near the air vents, where it'll get sucked in when you boot up.

For computer monitors in dusty environments there are also specialty covers available that come with a crystal-clear face panel. The sides are composed of a breathable material to provide "breathable protection", allowing you to use the monitor while it is covered. How Can My Family Assist My Citys Library

With decreasing money, local libraries necessitate additional money today than in the past. A great organization you can assist with is your local Friends of the Library. This Organization helps raise funds for the library and donate free time to try to make the cities library a better place.

One way they raise funds is by holding book and media sales. These  used book and media sale events are not only marvellous ways to find bargains on used books and media, like DVD's and CD's, they are also great ways to assist the local library.

If you have unneeded books CD's or DVD's, you can donate the items to the local library. ask your local library on what donations they are looking for or what their rules are for donated items. A few of these items that are donated may even go into the library catalog.

If you don't have media items to donate, you can always donate your time. These  used book sale fundraisers require  many volunteer hours to make them successful. Ask your  local friends of the library chapter and see what they may need help with. They will frequently need volunteers to help sort and organize books for sale. Also the Friends of the Library will require volunteers to assist in running the book sale and help with clean up. 

Volunteering for these book sales can also be a family event with teenage children. It can assist building their resume to use when applying to a job by volunteering hours at their cities library. Also, having more energetic volunteers can help with the manual work load of sort out the books and media for the  used book sale.

If  used media sales are not something you wish to help with, don't be discouraged. Friends of the Library also have some other fundraising events. They will sometimes host dinners, book signing events and on occasion run a ongoing book sale. Ask them to get extra details on what specifically your local library has scheduled.

Kindle Software Update Version 2.5

Today, April 29, 2010, Amazon has put up a summary of a new software update that is scheduled for May.

This would be the very first significant functional update to Amazons electronic ebook device ever since the release of the Kindle DX this past year. Following the release of this product, they only had one software upgrade, that somewhat enhanced performance of the Kindle DX by extending battery power life and added support of native PDF.

Will Netbooks Outlast Laptops in Popularity

If your unsure on what to get - an eBook Reader, Netbook or Low End Pc, don't fret, because all three have a purpose, similar to what an iPod vs a Smartphone.  Tech users find a product for specific needs.  While Netbooks and PC's are bulkier and heavier than an ebook reader, the other 2 still do the same job as the reader, but they will cost more, yet have more features.  All three aren't going away anytime soon.  The Wall Street Journal had this story - - -.

Pricier, more powerful notebook computers are sucking some of the steam from netbooks, the low-priced darlings that helped fuel sales for the PC industry in the past two years.

Many consumers—searching for more computing power than the compact, portable netbooks can deliver—are opting to pay more for laptops with bigger displays and circuitry suited for jobs like manipulating photos and video, which is beyond the capability of most netbooks.

Other buyers are being seduced by different hardware altogether—including high-end smartphones and Apple Inc.'s new iPad.

Not many people are ready to call an end to the boom in netbooks, which are machines typically priced around $300, with screens measuring 10.2 inches or less. But another category is also experiencing rapid growth: larger notebooks for a bit more money than netbooks that manufacturers are packing with additional features.

Apple's iPad gives consumers even more to think about. The tablet-style computer, which starts at $500, uses different software than Macs or Windows PCs. But it can take the place of a netbook or conventional laptop to browse the Web, and handle some tasks that ordinarily require more expensive machines.

But Mr. Otellini argued that the comparison was skewed, because many new manufacturers had entered the netbook market in the fourth quarter. He also disclosed that a more powerful version of Atom was coming—which may have caused some computer makers to hold off orders—and said he still expects "significant" growth in the netbook market in 2010.

"Certainly the excitement has died down a bit" about netbooks, said Avi Cohen, a managing partner at Avian Securities, a Boston-based brokerage firm. "But unit numbers still validate this category."
